Spicy Pan-Fried Tilapia

As promised, here is the recipe for the spicy pan-fried tilapia that I posted up on Facebook last night.

Bored of the usual grilled chicken, I decided to opt for some tilapia. Tilapia is a species of fish that is found in shallow freshwater ponds, streams and lakes. Due to its high protein, low fat-low carb content, tilapia has become a staple food for many health and fitness enthusiasts.

Lemon and Tomato Chicken Kebabs

People often ask me “do you not get bored of eating the same thing every day?” To which I reply “no, because I don’t.”

While the main ingredients that make up my meals stay the same, the way in which I cook them doesn’t. Whether it’s in gym or in the kitchen, adding variety is in itself an ingredient for success.

In the interest of time, I usually grill my chicken using a George Foreman grill. Today, however, I had some time on my hands to make something a little more flavoursome.

Home-made Isotonic Sports Drink

OK – let’s assume that the average sports drink costs £1.

Now that I’m nearing the final 5 weeks of the From Square One series, I’m pretty much in the gym every day, twice a day. So, you could say that I have a pretty good insight into people’s gym habits.

Something that I have noticed recently is that there are more people drinking sports drinks. There’s this one guy in particular who trains every weekday, and I always see him carrying a bottle of Gatorade – that’s at least a £20 a month!

This got me thinking; would it be possible to make a home-made isotonic sports drink which not only tastes as good as what you can buy in the supermarket, but is just as (if not more) effective?

Find out after the jump.

Wholemeal Pizza

Last week, a friend of mine invited me to grab a pizza. This inspired me.

However, this didn’t inspire me to go out and grab one of those greasy things that come in a box. Instead, it did encourage me to use my time at home this weekend to try out a healthy alternative and post the recipe up the blog.

This recipe is for anyone who loves pizza, but hates the guilt that comes with it. Recipe on the reverse.

The Beef Up Burger

It’s a shame that red meat has such a bad rap!

Beef, and by that I mean good quality grass fed organic beef, is not only great source of protein, but is also rich in muscle-building minerals such as iron, B vitamins and even creatine!

I don’t need to tell you that this recipe tastes great – it’s a burger! Thankfully, it requires minimal preparation and more importantly, contains little fat compared to other pre-made alternatives out there! Recipe after the cut.

Protein Pancakes

In a hurry? Give this a go!

I remember when I first started training; I used to experience these insane sugar cravings. Back then, I knew no better and would usually cave in and consequently, cheat on my diet.

With time comes experience, and so today I would like to share with you a staple recipe found within the dusty archives of many health and fitness blogs – protein pancakes or crepes, whichever you prefer!

I love this recipe. Sure it tastes goooooood (that’s a given), but for me it’s all about convenience – this is a great recipe for those on the go! More overleaf.

The Quick and Easy Protein Bar

Protein bars are expensive, which is why this recipe is great!

Inspired by the fitness model and writer Jamie Eason, this recipe tastes amazing and moreover, has the perfect balance of macronutrients. Therefore, they can be eaten during the day as a meal-replacement or alternatively, split in half and eaten as a nutritious snack.

So, what are you waiting for?
