Quirky Christmas Gift Ideas

With Christmas just over a fortnight away, I’m sure that many of you have been or are still busy putting together your wish lists!

So, with that in mind, I thought that now would be a good a time as ever to make a few suggestions as to what you could ask for – the only twist is, these are all health and fitness related products.

Also, if you’re wondering where I have sourced some these gift ideas from, make sure you check out Mashable – a social media news blog. Their founder, Pete Cashmore, is always publishing great finds via Facebook and Twitter. Gift ideas after the cut.

LIMITLESS

If I have learnt anything since launching Blogybuilding.com 4 months ago, it is that nothing is more satisfying than seeing an idea turn into a reality.

As with our bodies, we all have an idea of what we want to look like – a vision, if you like. If you had asked me back in August “how much do you think you can achieve in 4 months”, I would have never have envisaged what we achieved so far; over a million hits, a strong Facebook and Twitter following, interviews with some of the top fitness models and athletes in the industry, as well as networking and affiliating with some of the top companies in the industry.

However, when I alongside Jonny, set out on this venture, we told ourselves that despite its appeal, Blogybuilding.com will someday be part of a bigger plan – and that day is fast approaching. More after the cut.

Inspiring Change│Cheyenne’s Story

First and foremost, I would like to take this appropriate time to thank Blogybuilding.com for this amazing opportunity.  I absolutely love what this blog represents; so needless to say, I am really looking forward to sharing my story.

Hello, my name is Cheyenne Medina-Prawdzik.  I am the proud mommy to two beautiful children.  I am also happy to share that with hard work and dedication; I am a proud weight loss success story – for the second time!

I am just like every mother out there – a real honest, hard working and highly motivated mom, who wants the best for herself, her family, and other women who are in the same boat as I was.  I too had trouble getting back to my “pre-pregnancy” shape, both times, and in fact, I am still a work in progress as I truly believe that there is ALWAYS room for improvement.  I admire every woman who has the dedication and desire to get back into shape, as I know it’s not the easiest task after having children. From Square One│Week 12

Talk about ending the year on a high!

OK, it’s not over just yet! But, we have had yet another amazing week at Blogybuilding.com. In fact, I’m happy to announce that compared to last week, traffic is up by a whopping 85% – of which 68% are new visits. While these figures may not mean much to you, this indicates (to me, at least) that the website and moreover, our Facebook and Twitter pages, are growing – and that’s good!

With growth comes the need to change and adapt, and as you can see, we have and are continuing to make changes to the site. Our newest feature is “subscribe”, which when completed will allow our readers to sign-up to a monthly newsletter. Admittedly, this is something that we should have done sooner, but better late than never I guess! More after the cut.

From Square One│Week 11

WOW, what a week we have had at Blogybuilding.com.

What started off as a slow month (November-December), ended up being our best in terms of readership – up by 20% compared to October-November.

Much of this recovery is owed to the content that we have published in the past week, which included an article on elevating testosterone levels naturally, an inspiring introductory post from our new female columnist Nicole Hart, a product review for Clinique and of course, an interview with the beautiful Tiffany Tillinger – our most popular interview to date!

As with our bodies, nothing is more wonderful than watching something that you have put your time and effort into grow and flourish. Thank you all for your continued support and readership, we have so much more to give! More after the cut.

Topping Up Testosterone – Naturally!

The rate at which your body develops and builds muscle is dependent upon various factors, including hormones.

Indeed, countless studies have shown that there is a direct correlation between the male sex hormone testosterone and hypertrophy (an increase in the size of muscle cells). In other words, the more testosterone your body produces, the greater the potential for growth. Therefore, it’s unsurprising to see why some individuals go to great lengths to increase their testosterone levels – if you know what I mean.

If, like me, however, you’re looking for a more natural route towards elevating your testosterone and building lean muscle, then I urge you to read on. More after the cut.

Somatotypes – What’s Your Body Type?

Before taking that first step towards a healthier lifestyle, there’s something you need to know: no two bodies are the same.

“Somatotype” is a term that refers to an individual’s body type, of which can fall into either one of three categories: an ectomorph, a mesomorph or an endomorph.

Typically, your somatotype has influence on both your diet and training, and for that reason it’s important that you know yours. More after the jump.

Introducing Nicole Hart

A few days ago, I announced via Twitter that Blogybuilding.com had surpassed a million hits.

Not really sure what that means, but it’s a number that’s growing – and growing quickly at that. In light of this growth, I, together with Jonny, have set plans in place to expand and broaden our content, not just across different platforms, but also so that we accommodate for different demographics, specifically age and gender.

Enter Nicole Hart – she’s the newest addition to the Blogybuilding.com team and will cater for our female readers. She also wrote a post for a week or so ago, which you can read by clicking here.

When I sat down with Jonny and discussed the need for a female reader, we both had a certain type of person in mind; not only does she have to write well, but she has to personify fitness – and Nicole does just that! You can read her introduction after the cut.

Energy Up!

It’s winter. You’re tired. You don’t want to get out of bed today or worse still, exercise whatsoever. So you huddle under your duvet and declare a “duvet day”.

As we enter the colder months, we give ourselves more reasons to become lazy, but I don’t blame you. Cold weather forces our blood vessels to constrict (vasoconstriction), which impacts blood circulation. Besides vital nutrients, blood carries the one essential element that we depend upon the most – oxygen! Everything from our muscles to our brain relies on oxygen and therefore, poor circulation causes us to become tired, lethargic, unfocused and agitated.

That said, there are a couple of steps you can take to fight the winter blues. Read on after the cut.

From Square One│Week 9

Since I first embarked on this series 9 weeks ago, I have realised something: the abstinence of food is not what makes dieting difficult, but instead comes down to our inability to control our emotions.

Stress. We’ve all been there. Whether it’s preparing for an exam, an argument with a friend, or both, it’s safe to say that stress has a tendency to throw our lives off balance – and it’s not long after that we find ourselves comfort eating as a result. Simply put, stress is the enemy of progress. More after the cut.
